Warts, Milia, and Skin Tags

Warts, milia, and skin tags are common skin growths that can appear on various parts of the body. While generally harmless, they can be a cosmetic concern for many individuals.

Warts: Warts are small, rough, raised bumps on the skin caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). They are most commonly found on the hands and feet but can appear anywhere on the body. Warts are contagious and can spread through direct contact with the wart or something that touched the wart, such as towels or razors.

Milia: Milia are small, white or yellowish cysts that appear just under the surface of the skin. They are formed when keratin (a protein in the skin) becomes trapped beneath the skin’s surface. Milia are most commonly found on the face, particularly around the eyes, cheeks, and nose. Unlike warts, milia are not caused by a virus and are not contagious.

Skin Tags: Skin tags are small, soft, flesh-coloured growths that hang off the skin by a thin stalk. They are most commonly found in areas where the skin folds, such as the neck, armpits, groin, and eyelids. Skin tags are harmless and non-cancerous but can become irritated if rubbed against clothing or jewellery.
