Plasma

Rather than using lasers or cutting away excess skin, Plasma is used to create an arc of electricity that targets superficial skin cells, using precisely applied heat. The state-of-the-art Plasma Elite Pen, forces the skin tissues to contract virtually immediately, by thermally disrupting the fibroblasts. This microtrauma stimulates new collagen and helps release and activate essential proteins and growth factors. Plasma skin regeneration is a non-laser treatment that uses the device to deliver energy in the form of Plasma to rejuvenate the skin.

Frequently Asked Questions

Plasma is created by electrical energy from the pen which at the right distance from the skin ionises the oxygen and nitrogen in the air to create a small electrical arc, similar to a tiny lightning bolt.

When it hits the skin it vaporises any liquid in the skin at the point of contact, the surrounding skin contracts into the area and tightens around it.

Even though skin layers get vaporised by the plasma (via heating, fragmentation and vaporisation) they do not burn off. They simply flake off at a later date as part of the healing process.

The energy is also absorbed by the lower skin cells which causes trauma to the cell and it then encourages regeneration and rebuilding of collagen. This then enables remodelling of the internal architecture of the skin leading to smoothing of fine lines, wrinkles and tightening of loose skin.

New collagen is stimulated in the area due to the trauma created and this can continue for up to a period of 1 year.

There is around 1-2 weeks downtime after treatment where you can expect bruising, swelling and scabbing of the skin.

Aftercare is an essential part of any treatment. After a Plasma treatment the body goes through the same process when healing as a typical wound healing routine. It’s covered in 3 main steps:

  • Inflammation – this is the body’s natural response to trauma
  • Proliferation – this is where the wound starts to rebuild new, healthy, granular tissue
  • Maturation – also know as remodelling, this is the final stage after the wound has healed. Maturation starts when the wound looks healed so it’s important to keep your aftercare routine going.

Plasma Elite can be painful, we use numbing cream so minimal pain is felt during treatment, skin can feel sunburnt immediately afterwards.

It all depends on each individual and the area required treating. We recommend always a full and comprehensive consultation (plasma elite provide the consultation forms) and normally recommend 2/3 sessions.
